In March 2014, Elance merged with another freelance marketplace, oDesk. Today we’re announcing a new name and future for both companies.

Today we took the first step in bringing a new vision for Elance and oDesk to life by relaunching oDesk as Upwork. Elance is now an Upwork company.

Elance will remain unchanged for now. To maximize innovation, we are focusing development on Upwork and encourage you to join. Benefits of Upwork will include:

New messaging tools for faster collaboration
A new mobile app for iPhone and Android
A new Hiring Hub with helpful articles and guides
